In The Begining...

I want to take the time and welcome any fans, friends, family, and blog browsers to my new blog. I think it was a long time coming for an official A.J. Casteux blog to hit the inter web. Yes, I said inter web.

As you may see in my profile, proving you aren't too lazy to actually click a button to view it, or above in the previous paragraph... again, assuming you aren't too lazy to flick your gaze upwards, my name is A.J. Casteux, short for Amberlyn Juliet Casteux. This, however, is not my real name, simply a pen name. That means no trying to locate my address, creepy phone calls in the middle of the night (when I am actually awake), and certainly no stalking. I get enough of that online, thank you, you fucking sadistic gamer trolls...

Anyway, I won't sit here and tell you my blogs will keep you riveted... edge of your seat suspense, tawdry tales of the romances in my life, and awe inspiring tales of events that can only be described as wondrous acts of God. No, this blog will be mostly filled with me bitching about the annoying happenings of my life while I gulp down coffee by the gallon at 3 AM. Oh what a wonderful world you've stepped into, eh?

So, I ask that you bear with me as I am a procrastinator at heart, follow me down the rabbit hole, and join me as I recount the tales of my life and list off the useless facts, thoughts, actions, and random eccentricities of me, author and poet, A.J. Casteux.

No matter what language you speak, you've probably come across words or phrases in another language that sound better than their equivalents in your native tongue. What's your favorite word or phrase in a foreign language?

J.R.R. Tolkien

That's easy and a tie. Moon is a sucktastic word for the beautiful, majestic ball of light in the night sky, just as Sun is for the flaming star that gives us everything we need by simply being. I feel that the Quenya words, Isil (Moon) and Anar (Sun) are much more fitting words, beautiful words. J.R.R. Tolkien was quite a brilliant man.

Well, I went to help Amber with Kierka and Rory Bear's birthday party. The set up was hurried but a general success, and the party went off pretty well. Less people showed up than we thought, but Amber's step dad came and seemed to enjoy himself, which was cool. Kids got gifts, etc. Antne Bear got some gifts from me that had to be taken away as he has the new, oh so fun habit of lying, despite the evidence right in front of him.

I had previously lost 13 lbs in three months, slacked off for a month, gained 5 lbs back, then lost all of that 5 lbs in 2 weeks... Yay, a yo-yo! So I'm back on the wagon, hopefully I can stay on it. Working on ways to boost my sleepy metabolism. Any hints would be lovely.

Phoenix is getting nicer and nicer of an idea. Mom and Dad are even getting more into it. We keep finding cheap, wonderful houses in the Glendale area. Would love to live there.

Due to the hurried schedule as of recent, I have had very little time to put toward writing. I have gotten more work done on the character profiles for Chaos Theory (the ensemble cast of characters, primary, secondary, and tertiary is vast) and more chapter by chapter plot bunny work for Fields of November. In the next month, I'm hoping to finish the plot bunny, get the primary and secondary facts completely fleshed out, and do some more character profile tweaking with Sudja (changed the lead's name in PP if you noticed on the In Progress projects list)

Otherwise, my time has been spent trying to keep up with my life. Seems to have taken off without me. Dylan, if you're reading this, happy birthday. You are still the Moo Bitch, get over it. Night all.

Writer's Block: What's the Plan?

  • May. 8th, 2009 at 1:43 AM

Do you like to plan everything out or do you prefer to be spontaneous?

OCD
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. If you know me, you'll laugh too. As much as I love spontaneity, I am nothing without my lists. I am very, very, OCD, and have routines I prefer to keep. I'm not saying I won't come out of my shell more around people I know, but too much time away from multiple daily showers, teeth brushings, lists... all of it, I wouldn't be able to maintain a functioning level of sanity.

Writer's Block: Musical Affliction

Have you had an earworm lately? Exorcise it by inflicting it on your friendslist. Post the lyrics or - even better - a video.

Die Toten Hosen

OH GOD, YES! Randy, you are an evil man for introducing me to this band. Horrible, evil man. Mom, thank you so much for getting me the album. A happy birthday, indeed. Please ignore the Teal'cism.

Die Toten Hosen - Strom

Schach Matt!
Guten Tag!
Es ist alles in Ordnung,
ihr könnt' aufwachen,
wir sind wieder da,
wir sind außer uns,
und Rand und Band,
und wir haben keine Zeit für Schlaf.

Hört her und öffnet eure Ohr'n!

Richtig giftig! Richtig wichtig!
Damit er uns nicht falsch versteht,
ein Gesang aus tausend Kehlen,
solange bis die Luft wegbrennt.
Gedanken die wie Messer sind,
fliegen auf Dich zu und treffen Dich!

Und alles steht unter Strom!
Vom ersten bis zum letzten Ton!
Und alles steht unter Strom!
Vom ersten bis zum letzten Ton!

(Alles unter Strom!)

Und alles steht unter Strom!
(Alles unter Strom!)
Vom ersten bis zum letzten Ton!
(Alles unter Strom!)
Und alles steht unter Strom!
Vom ersten bis zum letzten Ton!

Hello, hello, and sorry for such a delay on posting. I know I had a promise out to my Tweethearts that I would post about my time at Amber's, but things have come around to me being lazy, a huge event occurring, that I am not able to talk about, and eventually, me forgetting anything interesting that happened on my stay. So, instead of trying to fruitlessly attempt to work out something to say, I waited to tell you all... as I just did.

For an update, Kierka Bear's birthday is May 21st, roughly 15 days after my own. Her brother, Rory Bear's is July 28th. To avoid major costs for two parties, they have now been combined into a May party. I have Kierka's gifts, Rory's is undecided, and I have half of Antne Bear's (as I always give the other kids a gift so as to not feel left out). I have Kierka and Rory's cards filled out, filled with cash, and sealed, but no proper wrapping paper, though I have an idea as to what I want to do (creative thought came on randomly one day).

On an officially unofficial note, there is talk amongst my family (Read: Mom, Dad, and I) to move to Phoenix, Arizona. Ok, that's a lie, more like to Glendale, Arizona which is damn close to the Greater Phoenix area (Read: downtown)... Nothing truly set into motion, but don't be surprised if I ask "Who wants to buy me a birthday drink in Phoenix?" come next year.

I need to catch up on the Writers Block, and I plan to sooner or later. Don't want them to get ahead of me. At least too far. Also, I am working out a website. It's still in the planning stages, but I will be looking for someone to do some hand drawn sketches and doodles for the eventual site. Full mention and a "About the Site Illustrator" section for you to use how you wish. Will also need a person who knows something more than me about making Flash (aka, make the doodles fucking move, please). Same as Illustrator, full mention and special page for your work. Not paying, sorry. I am broke. Site isn't the priority, but I am scoping out possibilities now.

I have a new and very random compulsion to work on Fields of November, and I am taking full advantage of that. I am working up a chapter by chapter brief (working out the kinks in my plot bunny) and tweaking the characters a bit. Also have the first chapter done and I am looking at doing the prelude soon. After that, it's pretty much just work on whatever chapter I want to at the time. I can't try and do things in order. I do scenes from various chapters as they hit my imagination and whammo, I have a major framework for the entire chapter. A few transitions and tweaks and I am one chapter down. That is my process. I also have a reworking of existing chapters from a project that some may know, and I won't mention just yet. Long story, but you'll get it soon enough.

I have a bit of a plot bunny forming for Chaos Theory. By plot bunny, I don't mean, I know exactly the character and plot development, and it just needs detail. No. If I put too much emphasis on strict framework, I'd go nuts. No, I simply have a pitch and a general idea of a few outcomes and actions in the story and then the broad ideas fall into place from there, forming the plot bunny. Then I work on the chapter by chapter brief to work out the problems with the plot bunny (they always exist), then I go nuts (see above paragraph for process of "going nuts").

I will give you more of an update soon, hopefully, and will keep you updated on Twitter as little things come up. Night all.

A Quick Note From A.J. Casteux

Thank you for viewing the official A.J. Casteux blog. If you have any questions (appropriate questions, I should say), please post them in a comment. Anyone may comment and I will try to get back to you. No guarantees though.
